Fed up with your IT support? Switching is easier than you think.

We handle the whole handover, including the awkward conversation with your current provider. You just tell us when.

The problem

Sound familiar?

Most businesses stay with a provider they have gone off far longer than they should, because changing sounds like more hassle than putting up with it.

  • You log a ticket and hear nothing for two days
  • Your provider was bought out and you now speak to a national helpdesk
  • Nobody there really knows your setup, so every call starts from scratch
  • The same problem keeps coming back and nobody has asked why
  • Anything to do with your business software gets handed straight back to you
  • You are paying for a service level you are clearly not getting

What you get

What you get with us

  • A local team

Our office is on Castle Street in Hull. The person on the phone is the person who can come out.

  • Response times in writing

Median first response 36 minutes, from our support system. Your contract commits us to 8 hours and we meet that 99% of the time. We hold ourselves to 6 hours internally and meet that 98% of the time. The 8 hours goes in your agreement rather than being promised on a call.

  • Proactive monitoring

We watch your servers, workstations and backups around the clock and fix a lot of it before you notice.

  • Sensible contract terms

Rolling monthly. If we stop being good at this you can leave, which we think is the right way round.

  • IT and software under one roof

We also build bespoke business software, so when the answer is a better system rather than a bigger server, we can do that too.

  • Documentation you own

Your network, licences and passwords written down, kept current, and yours if you ever leave us.

How it works

Four steps, and we do most of them

  1. 1

    Free IT review

We look at what you have, what keeps going wrong and what your contract says. No obligation, and we will tell you if switching is not worth it.

  2. 2

    Plan around your notice period

We read your current agreement, find the earliest sensible date and work backwards from it.

  3. 3

    We handle the handover

Including talking to your outgoing provider. Access, licences, domains and documentation, chased by us.

  4. 4

    Documented from day one

We document your whole setup as we take it on and give you a fix list of everything we find.

Why Selectgroup

One local team, in Hull since 1989

IT support, cyber security and bespoke software from the same people. Most local firms do the first two.

  • In Hull since 1989, with our office in the city centre
  • IT support, cyber security and bespoke software from one team
  • We deal with your current provider so you do not have to
  • Monitoring and backup go in before anything is switched off, so there is no gap
  • You own your documentation and passwords, always

Your understanding of the technology available coupled with detailed discussions on the desired outcome has produced a system with capabilities I did not imagine a business our size would be able to achieve. We have gone from a paper system, to a fully traceable production process. This has enabled our office staff to be able to communicate far more confidently with our customers.

Common questions

We are still in contract. Can we do anything now?

Yes. Most agreements have a notice period rather than a lock-in with no exit. We read the contract, work out the earliest sensible date and plan backwards, so you are ready to move the day you can rather than starting from scratch then.

What if our current provider will not co-operate?

It happens occasionally and it is rarely fatal. As long as you own your domain and your Microsoft 365 tenant, very little cannot be recovered or rebuilt. We find out what is missing early rather than on the day.

Will there be downtime?

A handover done properly should not need any. Our monitoring and backup go in alongside what is already there, then responsibility switches over. Where a change does need a window, it happens in the evening.

What does it cost?

A fixed monthly fee per user, on a rolling monthly contract. What is covered is agreed up front so the bill does not move about. The free review gives you a proper figure rather than a guess.

How long does the whole thing take?

The transition work itself is usually straightforward. What sets the date is your notice period, which is why we start by reading your contract.

Do we have to change our systems?

No. We take on what you have, tell you what we would improve and in what order, and you decide. Nothing gets replaced on day one for the sake of it.

Start with a free review

No obligation, no pressure, and an honest answer about whether switching is worth it for you. Sometimes it is not, and we will say so.
